our 3 pillers
Emotion | Candids | Fine Art
The art of telling your story
these 3 pillars are at the core of my approach
Fine Art
At the start of a wedding day there are three aspects of photography that I am naturally looking for, some are spontaneous and some are planned. While I am always on the lookout for tender moments, weather it be with a bride and a parent or grandparent, I am constantly looking for opportunities to create fine art couples portraits.
Although I enjoy using flash equipment to create unique images that tend to be different from what you typically see, the most interesting light in some cases is natural light.
Only the first image here was captured with natural light.
Candids
Candid’s are through and through the sole of my natural ability as a story teller.
I have a knack for capturing “real” candid moments perfectly. I often hear couples mention that they had so many candid photos that they didn’t know were being taken.
A heartfelt conversation or a simple meaningful gaze with your maid of honor or best man captured perfectly, will have you remember what was being said in the moment even when looking back at your images years down the road.
Emotion
Emotion is the heart of a wedding day. Capturing these joyous moments of you, your families and friends is the basis for your most memorable day.
Our skillset from years of experience will allow you to rest assured that I will keep up with the excitement of your day whenever these moments occur. This is the hallmark of a truly professional wedding photographer.
What goes into a great wedding portfolio?
Looking outside of the box
We pride ourselves in our ability to create compelling photographs where it is considered difficult. When the opportunity to capture emotion, candid’s or fine art portraits do not present themselves, we lean on creative composition, we chase color and focus on details. My mindset is always flipping through the mental photography rolodex and pushing to make great images, and that is what it is to be immersed into a couples wedding day. We are not a studio that just photographs key moments, if we have extra time during moments in the day we will gauge you to see if you would like to pose for another portrait.
great panoramic portraits
We combine 6 individual photos to make these panoramic images. We also have our lighting assistant in the scene next to the couple to light them so your eye is drawn to the subjects, my assistant is then removed in Photoshop.
we are with you from the start
We will work with you or your wedding planner to create a basic “shot list” timeline. But the magic happens when your scheduled must have photos have been taken and there is downtime, that’s when creativity arises and the below images are made.
