A Blast from the Past - Wedgewood San Ramon
I was over the moon to photograph Candice and Corey’s wedding at Wedgewood in San Ramon because I have a personal connection with this couple. When Corey reached out to me last year regarding his wedding it was about 8 years since I spoke to him last, when he was working for me as a part time sports photographer! I guess I left an impression on him, more than the impression a line drive baseball made on his dented monopod on his very first game he ever shot for me! I’m surprised he stuck it out and shot more games, that would have scared most anyone off on their first day shooting. Corey’s a good dude and if you were at his wedding you already know that, ok let’s get back to the wedding at hand.
Candace began her day getting ready at her parents house in Castro Valley and Corey at his and Candice’s home just a mile away. The couple is big on Disney and Mickey Mouse, as you’ll see throughout the wedding day.
Ryan, Corey’s brother helped him with getting ready..
I’ve photographed a number of weddings at Wedgewood in San Ramon but none like this one as they revamped their ceremony site for the 2019 season.
You could see that Candice and her father have a special bond by their reaction to seeing each other for the first time just before the wedding.
Corey and his boys were dancing down the aisle and bowing to each other as they did in karate class when they were kids, but back then they were not taking shots!
Everybody! Shots.. Shots.. Shots.. Shots..
Then it was time to get a little more serious with the ceremony led by Officiant Steve Siglin of Officially Yours!!
Candice was in the moment and all smiles…
After the ceremony we went right into portraits and this group was ready to pose!
After photographing traditional family portraits and must have poses we waited a few minutes for the sun to go down so I could use my lighting equipment, this is when Corey the groom says “it’s time for Jack’s signature style”, as he recalled from our engagement photo session.
We love sprinkling in a few lit portraits because you get so much out of one photograph, your backgrounds become deeply saturated and in my opinion the images can stand alone and doesn’t need a college to be impressive. Corey, you know what’s up my friend!
Remember that time when recording artist Brian McKnight sang at your wedding, said nobody ever! ,except Candice & Corey of course. I don’t know how Ryan the best man did it, but hats off to you.
As Candice’s mom said about these two, “yep, that how they’ve always been”.
Rings by: The King’s Jewelers
nailed it!!!
Cake by: Old Town Danville Bakery
and then it was time to party!
here’s our “Northern Light” swirl technique which helps to fit the vibe of being on the dance floor.
Corey’s father-in-law rushes the floor during the garter removal to say ‘slow down son’!
judging by his jacket toss, I don’t think he was listening..
Since the couple had a gobo projected on the wall that was apart of their disney theme I thought it would be fun to end the night with a special portrait that incorporated the logo, and then I let the couple get back to the dance floor!
It was an honor and privilege to photograph your wedding Candice and Corey, what a blast from the past. Enjoy the married life.
